Band of the week : The Cab

So, words cannot explain the undying love I have for this band.  Not only are they some of my best friends in the entire world, but I lived with them for two months on a tour bus on the Warped Tour last summer.  That’s CLOSE QUARTERS, people.  Usually being around a group of smelly boys 24 hours a day makes you want to kill yourself.  But this wasn’t the case with The Cab.  I know these boys inside and out, and they are, without a doubt, the most hardworking, passionate, and talented individuals I have ever had the pleasure of calling my brothers.  Instead of partying every night like everyone else (yup, I’m guilty of that), they would be in the back lounge of their bus, writing and writing and writing for hours on end.  And I would come back and just observe their creative process all night.  I would be a little fly on the wall, analyzing the interaction and collaboration between the guys.  I was present when most of the record was written, and that’s a really special feeling for me.  We would constantly BEG the boys to play the songs every day.  We were seriously their biggest fans.

And all of their incredible work paid off.  Their new record, Symphony Soldier is flawless.    Every song belongs on top 40 radio.  Every song is THE perfect pop song.  And with this being said, every song is distinct, complex, and has it’s own voice.  It hit number 6 on the iTunes charts its debut week.  Oh, and did I mention that they are UNSIGNED?  Suck on that, conventional music industry!
